About the Hotel
The Star Hotel is one of the oldest buildings in Southampton, dating back to the 18th century. Conveniently located just a five-minute walk from the city center and West Quay, it allows easy access to restaurants, shops, and local attractions.
Location
Situated on Southampton's historic High Street, the hotel is a short walk from major local attractions like the Titanic Engineer Officers Memorial and Tudor House and Garden. It is also within a 20-minute walk of Southampton Central train station, which connects to major cities including London. The property is located near ferry terminals for trips to the Isle of Wight, enhancing its accessibility.
Rooms
All guestrooms at The Star Hotel are equipped with free WiFi and flat-screen TVs. Rooms feature amenities such as tea and coffee-making facilities, heating, and daily maid service. Reviews and Ratings
The hotel is in a convenient location in the historic city center, close to West Quay, making it ideal for various activities. Although the front room I stayed in had some noise due to old windows, which affected my sleep quality, I did expect some street noise given the high street location. The rooms come at an extra £10 per night, and unfortunately, the drainage issue led to an uncomfortable smell in the room.
I was boarding a cruise ship the following day and found the hotel to be nice with a comfy bed and a good shower. It was clean enough, but there was a terrible smell in the room. The window in the bathroom allowed dirt and weeds to get in when opened.
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The room was warm, clean, and tidy, but the lack of ventilation made it uncomfortable and even posed a health risk for my wife, leading to a panic attack. On the bright side, the receptionist was helpful in addressing the issue. Overall, it was one of the worst rooms we've encountered in this establishment.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, going the extra mile to ensure a pleasant experience. However, the room was disappointing with its cleanliness and lack of adequate safety measures. The location was convenient but noisy on certain nights, and the dining experience had its highs and lows.
My stay at the hotel was overall pleasant. The rooms were very clean but a bit drab and smelly. The service was friendly and helpful, and the location, although in the City Centre, provided a comfortable night's sleep. The dining experience was good with a nice full English buffet, and the facilities were well-maintained.
My stay at the hotel was fantastic! The rooms were out of this world, with an upgraded bathroom that made my experience truly exceptional. However, the early morning noise outside was a minor inconvenience.
